Tamela Blalock ecstatically joins the innovative Team San Jose as a new National Sales Manager for the greater District of Colombia metropolitan area focusing on small meetings and multicultural organizations.   Tamela transitions to Team San Jose after three years with the George Washington University as the Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing for the summer housing department, a for profit division that converts two campuses of academic year housing into short-term and long-term summer lodging  over a thirteen week period.  At George Washington her target markets included associations, government, corporate, and educational organizations growing the department’s gross sales revenue by 157%, during her tenure.

Tamela Blalock was recently honored as the PCMA 2010 Student Planner of the Year,

where she is active with the local PCMA professional development committee.  She also serves as the2010-2011 Co-Chair for the MPI Potomac Chapter Marketing Committee, and is a member of industry organizations HSMAI and ISES.

Prior to reinventing herself into the tourism industry, Tamela worked for the Washington Redskins in the premium ticket sales division soliciting new multi-year accounts.  She also worked to develop fundraising programs for the Del Valle Foundation, and developed corporate recruiting accounts for the engineering and education schools at the George Washington University.  However, her first experience in the meetings industry was planning foreign dignitary events for the Central Intelligence Agency. 

Tamela Blalock has a Masters in Tourism Administration from the George Washington University, and a Bachelors in Marketing from Georgetown University.
