Belinda moved to the Washington, DC area from her hometown of Niagara Falls, New York in 1985. Prior to the hospitality industry she worked in the banking industry as a Mortgage Loan Processor for the Equitable Bank Mortgage Division in Towson, MD. Belinda joined the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau in February 1988 as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Sales. Presently as National Sales Manager and CMP, Belinda is responsible for sales to the Government and Multicultural markets in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Local industry memberships include: Just Because, National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners, Society of Government Meeting Professionals, Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, and the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives. Mrs. Thompson graduated from Dickinson-Warren Business College in Berkeley, California. |
She presently resides in Charles County Maryland
with her husband Morris and their two children Joseph and Maya.

The San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau’s most noteworthy new developments is the iLead Program, unveiled in May 2004. Short for “Interactive Lead,” the iLead Program offers a technologically-advanced, one-stop resource to increase efficiency for San Diego’s meeting customers. Designed specifically for the bureau by partner sandiego.com, it has become the major tool used by the Hotel Meeting Sales Division to service Meeting Planners. The iLead program provides an interactive connection between meeting planners, hotels and the Bureau. Data on all of San Diego’s 119 conference and convention hotels are kept in an online database allowing the Bureau to generate a list of hotels and facilities matching the specific needs of an inquiring meeting planner.
