PORTLANDThe grass really is greener when you’re in Portland, Oregon. Whether it’s our eco-friendly convention center, the area’s unspoiled natural beauty or the “green appeal” of our tax-free shopping and dining (not to mention tax-free food and beverage), Portland celebrates being green. But, Portland is more than just a pretty place. We have all the cultural amenities of a world-class city, from hip shops to funky art galleries, museums, nightlife and more. Plus, Portland offers hotels to accommodate every meeting need and budget, including more than 5,000 committable sleeping rooms. With nearly one million square feet, the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) reigns as the largest convention facility in the Pacific Northwest. The facility offers 255,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, 50 meeting rooms, and two grand ballrooms. In 2004, OCC became the second convention center in the nation to be Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) rated. Getting to – and around-- Portland is a breeze. Nonstop flights to Portland International Airport (PDX) arrive from more than 50 cities worldwide, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC. And light rail service is available from PDX to the Oregon Convention Center and to downtown Portland’s hotel core. Best of all, Portland's light rail is free in a 330-square-block area between downtown and the OCC. After your meeting, it’s time to smell the roses; Portland’s International Rose Garden features more than 9,000 rose plants. Portland is home to Powell’s Books, the world’s largest independent new and used book store, as well as more microbreweries per capita than any other city in the world. Delegates can also tour local wineries, enjoy Portland’s thriving performing arts scene, catch a Trailblazers game, explore nearby Mount Hood and Multnomah Falls and tickle their taste buds at one of city’s many wonderful restaurants. Discover why the grass really is greener in Portland!
