DENVER
Denver is an energetic young city with 300 days of annual sunshine, brilliant blue skies and stunning mountain scenery. Founded in 1858 as a gold mining camp, Denver is located at the base of the majestic Rocky Mountains, 5,280 feet above sea level - exactly one mile high.
In recent years Denver has emerged as a tier one convention destination, underscored by a newly expanded 584,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall in the Colorado Convention Center, a state-of-the-art complex surrounded by 7,400 downtown hotel rooms in walking distance. The Colorado Convention Center was designed by meeting planners for meeting planners and has nearly 600,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, 63 meetings rooms on one level, two hotel quality ballrooms of 50,000 and 35,000 square feet and a 5,000-fixed seat lecture hall that is divisible in thirds.
And that's just the beginning. With the Rocky Mountains for a backyard, nationally acclaimed chefs, six new sports stadiums for eight professional sports teams, three new art museums and a new light rail system connecting downtown to a series of nearby attractions, the city is an ideal meeting destination
Getting out and exploring it all is easy with an extremely walkable downtown centered around the 16th Street Mall - a mile-long pedestrian promenade lined with outdoor cafes, entertainment centers and shops. And you're also never far from nature. Grab your walking shoes, or rent a bike and explore some of Denver's 200 parks or more than 850 miles of bike and pedestrian trails. Tee off at one of the 90 metro area golf courses or go whitewater rafting right through the heart of the city. The spectacular Red Rocks Amphitheatre demonstrates Mother Nature at its finest. The stage of the natural outdoor amphitheatre is cradled by 300-foot red rock boulders, making for an incredible concert under the stars.
When the sun goes down, Denver's nightlife heats up. The downtown is filled with live music, dance clubs, chic wine bars and has more than 300 restaurants featuring nationally recognized chefs dishing up innovative cuisine with a Rocky Mountain flair.
Getting to Denver is easy. Denver International Airport is one of the four busiest airports in the country and 10th busiest in the world. More than twenty-three airlines offer more than 1,500 flights including non-stops to more than 140 cities worldwide.
