Devon Whitaker recently joined Destination DC as a Convention Sales Manager targeting associations based in the Maryland, Virginia and Southeast Markets. She enjoys being a member of such a progressive sales team and resource for the destination. Devon is an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and Association of Meeting Professionals (AMPs). She’s previously held sales manager positions with Marriott International Regional Sales Office and Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association. Devon enjoys helping customers change their concepts to realities. |

Destination DC serves as the lead organization to successfully manage and market Washington, DC as a premier global convention, tourism and special events destination, with a special emphasis on the arts, cultural and historical communities.
- There are approximately 110 properties and 27,500 hotel rooms located in Washington, DC. The Greater Washington Metropolitan Region is home to approximately 600 properties and 95,000 rooms (including those located within DC proper).
- There are 4,635 committable rooms within 1 mile of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
- There are 18 properties currently in the construction pipeline that are expected to be delivered in 2010 and beyond, including 4 that are currently under construction.
- Groundbreaking is expected in 2009 on the Marriott Marquis, which will serve as one of the convention center headquarter hotels. Projected to open in 2012, the Marriott Marquis is located on a site adjacent to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
- DC’s hotel occupancy’s reach their peak in March through June and September through October. Average daily rates also reach their highest levels during these months.
